Closest beaches to Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani & Fira

Santorini’s capital – Fira and its most popular villages of Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia are located high on top of the cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea, offering stunning panoramic views but lacking direct access to the shoreline. But the benefits of being a small island, means that wherever you stay in Santorini, a beach is only a few minutes away.

Ammoudi bay is located right under the picturesque village of Oia. The area offers stunning views of the sunset and the village above, with its windmills and white houses covering the cliffs, and many taverns and cafes nearby allow you to enjoy the atmosphere and local cuisine. If you follow the path south along the shore you will find Armonia, a very small and rocky beach with views of Thirasia island and St. Nikolaos islet with its popular cliff jumping spot.

Another beach accessible from Oia is Katharos. Stunning sunsets away from crowds. Keep in mind that both beaches have no amenities around and you will need a proper pair of shoes to get there.

If you’re staying in Imerovigli, you can drive south-east and enjoy the magnificent Koloumbos beach. Situated in a secluded bay with a towering rock formation, the beach offers a calm and quiet environment where you can enjoy the natural beauty and calm sound of the surf. A bit south of that is Pori, a small and narrow beach that has a remote location, making it an ideal place for those seeking refuge from the crowds and noise. Although both beaches may lack tourist amenities, their natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make up for any inconvenience.

Continuing your journey south, down the eastern shore of Santorini you will find Vourvoulos beach, not far from both Imerovigli and Firostefani. This pebbly beach backed by white cliffs is a great place to spend a day swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean and enjoy a sea food lunch in the local tavern.

Keep an eye out for local celebrities – 2 swans taking their daily swim from Exo Gialos, near the island’s capital Fira. This is a bigger beach and it’s located next to a local fishing port. The Yalos beach bar/restaurant provides a very chill atmosphere for a day on the beach and an evening enjoying authentic local dishes and drinks with your partner.

So, pack your sunscreen, grab your towel, and embark on a beach-hopping adventure that will leave you spellbound by the wonders of Santorini’s shores. And let every moment spent here be filled with the magic of the island, which will live in your memories forever.
