Essential Guide to Parking in Santorini: Tips for Stress-Free Parking in Fira, Oia, and Beyond

Finding parking in Santorini can be difficult, especially during summer months. Here is some useful information and a few tips on finding a parking spot in Santorini.

Parking in the main towns, like Fira, Oia or Imerovigli can be challenging due to them being the most popular destinations for people visiting Santorini.

Most villages have options for public and private parking. Private parking is usually more organized and closer to main attractions. While it can get pricier in Oia, it’s still better than the alternative of paying a fine and/or getting your vehicle towed. Pay attention to the signs indicating parking restrictions. In some places parking is prohibited due to narrow streets and movement of public transport and emergency vehicles.

In Oia, it’s best to arrive early in the morning. If you’re visiting the town for the sunset, it’s best to park further away and walk to the center. There’s Free Oia Parking next to the bus station and also Kyklos Square Parking, which are both public. There are also private options like Sunset Parking and Oia Parking, which provides charging services for your electric vehicle.

Imerovigli has more free parking options with Stationnement and Escobedo’s Parcheggio both within a couple of minutes walking distance from the bus stop and the center of the village. Imerovigli Honeymoon Petra Parking is a paid alternative, with prices starting at 5 EUR for the first hour and 0.50 EUR for every additional hour.

Firostefani is a relatively small village with 3 big parking lots that are free – Free Public Parking, Parking 6 and Parking 8

Fira is the capital of Santorini and one of the busiest towns. Here the public options are Parking lot Sklavenitis, Stationnement and Fira Main Parking lot. The new Fira Central Parking is private and is located behind Jerry’s Santorini donut shop.

Some restaurants and hotels provide free parking for their guests, so it’s worth inquiring about it before making your dinner or accommodation reservation.

Renting an ATV or a scooter can also make finding a parking spot easier, as they take way less space. A compact car like Toyota Aygo, Fiat 500 or Smart is also much easier to park on narrow streets.

Plan your route in advance and take into consideration that finding a parking spot can take some time. Following street signs and using GPS and apps like Google Maps can also help you spend less time looking for parking and more time enjoying Santorini!
