A lovely Santorini photoshoot

Adam and Danielle in a lovely off season Santorini photoshoot

We met up in a slightly chilly November day. The cold did not matter a single thing, because they had each other to warm up. It’s funny how with most of the tourists out of the way, the island of Santorini turns into a different place. The light gets softer, the streets are emptier, the views still magnificent as usual. During the time it’s truly a place for a romantic getaway, a place to really connect to your lover.

And I could sense that Adam and Danielle shared a truly special connection, the depth of which only they could fathom. As we enjoyed the caldera views and Prophet Ilias church in Imerovigli, it seemed like the air around them was warmer by a couple of degrees.

Gorgeous sunset shoot in Santorini

Gorgeous sunset shoot with KiHo & Wynnia

Santorini has a pull like no other place, it has a power to bring lovers from all over the world to enjoy its magical sunrises and sunsets over the Caldera while the Aegean Sea waves gently wash the sandy beaches. And this time I had the honor to meet yet another amazing couple all the way from Hong Kong.

KiHo & Wynnia came here for a lovely getaway from the busy city life and found themselves enjoying every second together. I really could see the love in their eyes as we headed towards our photo locations – they were so gentle, and so hopelessly in love.

I hope these pictures capture at least a part of the special aura that surrounds and recharges them every day.

Practical tips on how to get the most out of your Santorini off season photoshoot

Practical tips on how to get the most out of your Santorini off season photoshoot

Santorini weather is often a mystery – there are contrasty warm and cold days during off season, and that usually makes couples pretty confused about what to wear on shoot day. Fear not, here’s some tips from a Santorini photographer!

Let’s begin with defining the off season – I would say it’s the winter months from December till March. That’s the time when the weather gets a bit more chilly, and you can take advantage of no crowds of tourists to really explore the whole island of Santorini and it’s small villages and streets. Not to mention it makes for beautiful romantic photoshoots!

The main thing to remember is not to rely on stable weather. It’s really so unpredictable that it might be 18 or 4 degrees outside during your trip. So just be ready and bring a warmer layer of clothing for an unpredictable temperature drop. Dressing in layers is a really good idea for this season, because you can easily adapt by just removing a layer of clothing if it gets too hot.

If you’re one of the couples facing a really cold shoot day, no worries – the weather is still sunny most of the time, so you can wear your flowy dresses etc., just make sure to take a jacket to wear in between locations for maximum comfort. And you can always rely on a cup of hot coffee to get you warm fast ;)

And the last thing to keep in mind is planning. Since the weather is really fluctuating these days, it is best to plan the time of your photo session in the beginning of your trip. This way you can always reschedule if there’s some unpredicted weather change.

Hope this helps, see you in Santorini soon!

A couple travel tips for Santorini, Greece

A couple of couple travel tips for Santorini, Greece

The little island of Santorini in Greece is the perfect romantic couples getaway. Each year thousands and thousands of lovers rekindle their love over gazing into the sunsets over the Mediterranean Sea.

That being said, there’s a lot of stuff to do here, and you might quickly be lost, especially if you come for a shorter period of time. No worries, today we’ll look at some highlights.

  1. You HAVE to see the sunsets. There’s so many spots that light up around the time when the sun goes down and the whole vibe of the island changes. So get out of your hotel, even if you don’t feel like it. :)
  2. Invest in a boat ride. The Santorini boat tours give you a whole new look at the island, especially if you’re feeling like you’ve seen it all already. Plus it is a true adventure for the both of you.
  1. Try and not have a super structured down-to-a-minute schedule. Remember to enjoy the carefree moments in each other’s company. Breathe deeply, enjoy the sun and feel the wind on your skin. Seeing places is nice, but take a look at each other more.
  1. And make sure you capture the memories, these trips will be something to remember and talk about, as life gets a bit too hectic at times. And if you need some help, I know someone, wink wink. But seriously, there are times when a blurry snapshot says more than can be put in words.

Highlights of 2018.

This year has been a roller coaster. I got to wake up before sunrise, shoot in crazy winds and say ‘hello’ to the magic of city lights. So fun getting to work with new clients and old. Really really grateful for this journey and a big thank you to anyone who has let me into their life to document all these beautiful moments.

Columbian couple photoshoot in Santorini

Santorini is a place to which all the lovers of the world flock every summer to enjoy some special days on it’s small town and beaches. But some are more rare than others. This time I got the wonderful chance to meet and photograph Nancy and Juan who came all the way from Columbia!

Nancy and Juan have been married for 20 years, but you cannot tell when you meet them – they’re so loving and caring, no sight of this love burning out. They’re full of sense of wanderlust and positive emotions all the way!  They had come to the island to celebrate Nancy’s birthday, so we headed out in the lovely streets of Santorini to make some great memories from their trip :)

This is why taking photos is so special, you capture a moment in time of someone’s life – it’s a great rush and great responsibility and I hope I managed to capture at least a part of their special energy.

From Australia to Santorini – Natalie and Lewis in a lovely honeymoon shoot

From Australia to Santorini – Natalie and Lewis in a lovely honeymoon shoot

I keep being blessed with meeting people from all over the world and hearing their stories. This time we met up with Natalie and Lewis all the way from Australia. They had engaged in Santorini and now they were back once again for a honeymoon getaway.

It seemed like they were made to come back. The magical aura around them radiated pure love and joy of life. The pull of this small Greek island is truly great, and it always attracts the most special people, and this was no exception.

We met up and decided to go pay a visit to the blue churches and the beach. The island cooperated and offered some of the most magical light. I just hope I did them justice and managed to capture some of that special aura around them :)

Adventurous couple photoshoot in Santorini

Adventurous couple photoshoot in Santorini

Chris and Julia came all the way from Atlanta, Georgia to enjoy some of the special Santorini sun. I was honored to find out that they themselves know a thing or two (and more ;) ) about cameras.

That being said, they trusted me completely as we set to climb all things climbable and went off to some of the smaller intimate Santorini streets in search for the golden shot. Now I can honestly admit that I’m a bit afraid of heights but their enthusiasm kept me going :) As I sit and review the shots and how lovely they look, I can’t help to think that it was totally worth it. I mean, look at this lovely couple!

Dreamy sunrise couple photo session

Dreamy sunrise couple photo session

Jetlag has its pluses sometimes. I met this lovely couple even before sunrise. As we walked the empty streets of the busy tourist season Santorini waiting for the magical morning light, I felt that this is going to be a special one.

No daytime heat, no curious bystanders, just the couple. Sadaf and Saad could let go and be themselves and I think it really comes through in the final pictures. I hope their sweet tenderness towards each other comes through at least the slightest bit, they truly have a magical presence.

Hope to see them soon again!

Boho chic style adventure in Santorini

Boho chic style adventure in Santorini.

Santorini is a place known for its scenic landscape with traditional Greek buildings on the Caldera and it attracts thousands of tourists every season. With that comes some pretty standard ways of enjoying what the island has to offer. But there are alternatives.

If you’re looking to strand off the beaten path a bit and do things differently and are looking for more of the authentic island life, this is for you. Tourists usually flock to Oia and that’s for a reason – it has most of the scenic architecture and little churches that couples love. It’s a great place to visit, but the crowds of tourists might ruin your vibe a bit in the busy season.

What you can do is to look at smaller, not so popular villages like Emporio and Pyrgos – these are places where you will meet locals more frequently and see people living a simple and sincere life – if you visit a cafe, you can be pretty sure that it is frequented by locals. Or you can set on your own little adventure equipped with fresh Greek produce and wine (of course) and head to a spot on the Caldera and then end the day with a magnificent sunset view from one of the rooftops in Akrotiri just to meet the sun early next day on a peaceful beach walk.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can always find ways to enjoy places a bit differently than the crowd and find your own little diamonds on the island and connect with locals and your fellow travellers on a different level. And above all, remember:

”The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”  (Marcel Proust)

Peggy and William is an amazing couple all the way from Australia. Just married, they came to Santorini for their honeymoon. We chose to go for a sunset photo shoot in Pyrgos. Strolling trough the little streets, alleys and ruins we met almost no one, it felt like this village welcomed us with open arms.

Both of them are medical students and it always surprises me, how Australians get such long vacations :)

I’m glad and grateful to have been a part of their 3 week trip to Europe.

CALM VIBES OF FIROSTEFANI WITH
BARBARA AND MAURO JUNIOR

This couple wanted something special for their one year anniversary, and let me tell you – a trip to Santorini is probably one of the best choices for this. We were looking for some of the places that would help capture their tender love and eventually we ended up in the logical destination of Firostefani.

It was magical, it seemed that these places have been waiting for them to arrive. Their connection is truly a special one and I hope these images convey at least a part of that special feeling in the air when being around them. Santorini is a place that attracts special couples, indeed.

Candid Engagement photo shoot in Santorini

Candid Engagement photo shoot in Santorini

Last year has brought some new and exciting couples my way again – I feel truly blessed to work with each and every one. This time I met up with Melandi and Sean, a South African girl and Englishman, who have found each other by some divine fate.

On this day we went for the most magnificent sunset over the Santorini roofs. We agreed that we will be looking for more candid shots, and no other request could make me more glad :) In my work I stride to capture those small and true moments and silly things when the couples radiate genuine love and affection.

They were truly a pleasure to be with and I hope these capture at least a small part of the beauty that is this couple and the Santorini sun :)
